A View from the Wild Side is a photographer’s manual for better pictures. It takes the reader through the picture-making-process in fine art photography.
I have gathered relevant images from my early days of photography and through the years, to illustrate the design, composition and strategies to take better pictures. The early chapters of this book define the camera viewing system, evolution, components, functions and management. Sections 2-3 describe theories, concepts and methods on design, composition, color and visual perception. The chapters on the characteristics of light and portraiture, lead to section 5, which comprises fine arts photography—film processes with guides and explanatory diagrams for print making.
A special topic in close-up photography is illustrated with Lara’s color digital images, from the jungle of Perú.
There are instructional notes, guides, charts and assessments at the end of each chapter.
